CWC Code of Conduct
Firstly, thanks to everyone for participating in our whisky club.
The purpose of these quarterly gatherings is to dive into the world a whisky and sample some of the finer bottles we wouldn’t ordinarily get to taste. As I am sure you already know this can become an expensive hobby so splitting the cost amongst a group of people is the most logical approach. That being said, whisky is both a speculative & investment vehicle for a number of retailers and individuals which inadvertently pushes the price up of limited release whisky (the kind we are planning on drinking). So getting in early and purchasing directly from the distributor and or distilleries is the approach i have taken. This requires a capital investment which Dave and I have already fronted for the upcoming five tastings and will claw back over the next 13 months through the members annual/months fees.
We are also in the process of launching an online shop through the CV platform which will make the whisky we are tasting available for purchase to the members, this will later be opened up to market and serve as an income stream for the purchase of higher end whisky for tastings and investment purposes.
How you as a member approach these gatherings is totally up to you, all we ask is that you follow the following guidelines in order to keep proceedings as hassle free as possible.
- The Jameson evening on the 14th of March is at capacity (12 members). Because we have received everyone’s payment we will take your attendance as confirmed.
- Going forward you will be able to RSVP on the members page. If you are unable to attend and give more than a weeks notice (7days) you will receive 50% of your quarterly fee back in the form of a gift voucher to purchase a bottle of whisky off www.cvin.co.za. Missing the deadline will result in NO refund.
- The monthly payment option will only be available in the first two weeks of the billing cycle.
- No cash will be accepted, everything will be done through the members dashboard.
- Start time is 6:30pm (pre drinks) for 7:00 pm (pouring of first drams)
- Each tasting will include 4-6 whiskies as well as some history and tasting notes about each dram. We appreciate that not everyone maybe interested in the level of detail given but ask that this process is respected for the sake of the other members.
- You are welcome to bring a bottle along with you but must wait until the tasting is complete before you open it.
We will add to these guidelines as the club progresses but hopefully this is not necessary.
