Gareth Ferreira — MS

South African born but London-based Gareth Ferreira is one of the select few Master Sommeliers (MS) in the world. His career spans extensive experience gained at places like the Ritz-Carlton in Florida and Dubai, the Saxon Hotel in Johannesburg, Burj Al Arab, Launceston Place and 67 Pall Mall in London, where he was mentored and guided by fellow MS Ronan Sayburn, one of the founders of the exclusive members only wine club in St James, London. Sayburn is also the CEO of the Court of Master Sommeliers Europe.

Gareth was the inaugural winner of the South African Best Sommelier competition in 2016 and followed that up by competing in the World’s Best Sommelier competition in South America later the same year – and making the semi-finals at first attempt.

Gareth is now the Beverage Director and wine buyer at CORE, a 3-star Michelin restaurant in London.
